Ucom Supports the Development of High-Tech Education in Armenia

With Ucom’s support, the final stage of the Annual International Microelectronics Olympiad will take place in Armenia on November 17. This year, 20 young engineers from 19 countries will compete in the final stage. Ucom has been a long-standing general supporter of the initiative.

The International Microelectronics Olympiad, launched and led by Synopsys Armenia, aims to advance high-tech education and strengthen the microelectronics sector. Targeted at students and engineers aged up to 30, the Olympiad seeks to identify promising talent, inspire young specialists, and cultivate a global professional community united by knowledge, skills, and collaboration.

“At Ucom, we are committed to supporting programs that empower the next generation of tech innovators. High-tech development is one of Armenia’s strategic priorities, and it is important that young engineers have opportunities to engage with global peers, grow professionally, and bring their expertise back to contribute to Armenia’s progress,” noted Ralph Yirikian, General Director of Ucom.

The Olympiad is conducted in two stages: the first stage is held within each participating country, and national winners move on to the final round in Armenia. This year’s finalists represent Armenia, Brazil, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, Iran, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Sri Lanka, the UAE, the USA, and Vietnam.

“For twenty years, the organizing of the Annual International Olympiad in Microelectronics in Armenia has showcased our nation’s excellence in this field and our commitment to nurturing the next generation of innovators. Each year, welcoming stage-one winners from around the world to Armenia for the final stage and award ceremony reinforces our country’s prominent role on the global technology map,” said Hovik Musayelyan, Vice President of the Olympiad Organizing Committee and Director of Synopsys Armenia.

Participants will compete in areas including digital IC design and testing, analog and mixed-signal IC design and testing, semiconductor devices and technologies, as well as mathematical and algorithmic issues of EDA.

The winners will be announced on November 18 at the Engineering City.
