Marzes remain in the focus of attention of Viva-MTS: New service center opened in Tchambarak

Viva-MTS has been guided not only by business interest, but also by the principle of responsibility. Moreover, the Company believes that those two are inseparable in business operations. Due to population size and other factors, opening of service centers in regions is not always economically viable. However, Viva-MTS appreciates a responsible approach, the need to provide high-quality services and products in the capital city and beyond.

In Tchambarak, Gegharkunik marz, the leading telecom operator started providing services in 2007. It was operating in a small facility, which was rather a kiosk in size, but with highest customer service recording top rates of customer satisfaction. Reopened at a new address, the service center is equipped with modern solutions to let increase the possibility of welcoming more customers in comfortable surroundings. Residents of Tchambarak say that opening this service center is an important positive move for those who live in borderland communities.

Along with business activities, Viva-MTS has demonstrated a responsible approach through various programs in order to mitigate the difference in development rates between the capital city and the regions. In particular, various projects were implemented in this region – in the village of Vahan, which is about 6 km away from the community center Tchambarak. The settlement having 27 km-long border is on the north-east of the country and serves as a shield to it. People here know the importance of having a safe rear, remain in the focus of attention and see willingness to solve existing problems. The village of Vahan appeared in the focus of the Company’s attention in 2008; Viva-MTS has managed to support with the construction of a gas pipeline, which was a necessity.

Later in 2014, a solar water heater was installed in the village kindergarten in collaboration with the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC). The results were not long in coming: the consumption of gas and expenses on heating in the kindergarten were reduced for about 60%. The implementation of new technologies also solves also environmental, energy-saving, and community development issues. In 2015 and 2016, works were carried out to ensure street lighting of the village. An LED lighting system was installed.

The company provided 10 computers to the secondary school of the village in order to help organize the educational process using modern methods. Taking care of society, which is a core principle at Viva-MTS, has also been part of life of the Company’s staff members. Years ago, sanitary facility was built in the school with around AMD 2 million raised by the Finance and Administration Department staff.

Engaging in animal husbandry in Vahan is another challenge. The geographical location of the village imposes its own rules of life. Leaving cattle unattended on pastures is risky, because animals happen to cross the border, and getting them back proves impossible. Viva-MTS and the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) tried to be helpful in this, too. Farmers were provided a mobile system of solar-powered ‘electric shepherds’ to help avoid damage to their small farms.

Viva-MTS and “Fuller Center for Housing Armenia”, yet another partner of the Company, implemented a housing project in Vahan. With projects like this, Viva-MTS integrates villages into a process that is based on environmental, economic, cultural and social development, the four components of sustainability.
