Byblos Bank Armenia donates AMD 7 million for reconstruction of Spandaryan Canal
Byblos Bank Armenia has donated 7 million drams to the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s 2025 fundraising campaign, supporting the reconstruction of the Spandaryan Canal in the Syunik province.
The Bank’s donation will be allocated to the restoration of damaged sections of the Spandaryan Canal, helping to rehabilitate the irrigation system and ensure reliable access to water for several communities in Syunik.
Currently, up to 70% of the Spandaryan Canal is damaged, leaving several settlements in the Syunik province without access to irrigation water. The project aims to restore water security, stimulate agricultural production and create conditions for sustainable economic development in the region.
As a result of the canal’s reconstruction, 730 families (4,320 residents) from the settlements of Sarnakunk, Ishkhanasar, Tsghuk, Spandaryan, Angeghakot, and Shaki in Syunik will directly benefit, and approximately 2,800 hectares of land will receive reliable irrigation.
The Spandaryan Canal reconstruction project is being implemented as part of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s 2025 “Homeland and Eternity” fundraising campaign.
