The Aylagir Coding Contest sponsored by AraratBank concludes
The Aylagir coding contest for high school students is one of the projects of “Antrohoos” Educational Foundation, now in its second year. This year with AraratBank as the main sponsor, the contest took place at the Armenian National Agrarian University.
High school students from Yerevan and the regions, as well as students from secondary vocational institutions, submitted over 150 applications, but only 16 advanced to the final stage. The participants, mentored by teachers, identified various problems through interactive projects and proposed solutions.
Talent discovery, professional guidance, and implementing initiatives aimed at advancing scientific research in Armenia are among the goals of the “Antrohoos” Educational Foundation.
Anna Allahverdyan, Head of the Communications and CSR Programs Coordination Division at AraratBank, is convinced that the decentralization of educational and cultural programs plays an important role in regional development: “Today, businesses operating in various communities are obliged to create value beyond service delivery. From this perspective, AraratBank positions itself as a socially responsible institution, with educational programs comprising approximately 50% of its CSR portfolio, implemented in collaboration with various foundations and NGOs.”
Avag Sayan, Executive Director of the “Antrohoos” Educational Foundation, noted that greater development and growth among students can be observed year after year.
“They are trying to solve issues — that is, they take sustainable development goals defined by the UN or any issue related to their community in our country and attempt to find solutions to these problems. And here, coding and programming serve not as a goal, but as a tool,” noted Avag Sayan.
The event concluded with the announcement of winners in three categories: Data Visualization and Analysis using Snap!, Data Visualization and Forecasting using Snap!, and Environment Automation with Computer Vision using Python programming language.
The contest aimed to discover talents, develop various skills, and encourage active schools and teachers, while AraratBank will continue to support educational programs that foster the development of young people’s creative thinking, helping them realize their dreams and goals.
The collaboration between AraratBank and the “Antrohoos” Educational Foundation began back in 2024, within the framework of which AraratBank supported the implementation of the “Gitahen” (science-based) program ensuring teacher training and financing the activities of extracurricular groups for one academic year.
Over 110 students attending “Gitahen” extracurricular groups have been engaged in project-based learning, solving problems related to data value assessment, primary and secondary data differentiation, noisy data identification and everyday application of these analytics, and other tasks. Thanks to the support of AraratBank, the engineer-teachers of “Gitahen” extracurricular groups participated in a specially designed teacher training program.
AraratBank is regulated by the Central Bank of Armenia.
