Sevan Agritech Summit 2025 to advance innovation in Armenia’s agriculture sector
The Sevan Agritech Summit 2025 international forum kicked off in Armenia’s Gegharkunik region on 23 July. The event aims to advance digital and innovative technologies in Armenia’s agricultural sector, fostering connections between stakeholders in the agritech sector as well as promoting agritech entrepreneurship. The summit is organised by the Sustainable and Inclusive Growth in Mountainous Armenia (SIGMA) project, the Armenian Institute for Digital Agriculture (AI4DA), and the Startup Armenia Foundation, in cooperation with Acba Bank, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the UN World Food Programme (WFP), and the Austrian Development Agency. The Sevan Agritech Summit is part of the Sevan Startup Summit 2025.
The Sevan Agritech Summit has brought together leading agritech experts from 10 countries around the world. These experts will share best practices in the sector, emerging trends, and development prospects, as well as the challenges and opportunities of advancing agricultural technologies in Armenia. The event has attracted more than 300 participants from Armenia and abroad, including entrepreneurs, investors, and representatives from international R&D institutions and private companies.
The Sevan Agritech Summit features a high-level conference and the AgriThon regional contest for innovative agricultural solutions. The conference explores key topics such as challenges and opportunities of advancing AI in Armenia’s agricultural sector, digital solutions and agricultural robotics, the future of climate-smart agriculture and renewable practices, as well as the application of agri-fintech in Armenia. Sevan AgriThon 2025 aims to boost the capacities of agritech startups in Armenia by fostering regional cooperation and innovation in the areas of precision agriculture, automation, and climate-smart solution.
Ten teams that advanced to the final stage of an acceleration programme launched in May are participating in the contest. The contest honours those with the most effective solutions to critical challenges in Armenia’s agricultural sector. Winners of AgriThon will receive prize funds from Startup Armenia Foundation, as well as investment and technical support from the SIGMA project. Following the completion of the contest, the SIGMA project will continue working with the top AgriThon winners from Armenia, co-investing in their projects and supporting them to commercialise their ideas, with the goal of bringing innovation directly to smallholder farmers and agribusinesses.
