Viva-MTS: A modern infrastructure system has been launched in border village of Koti

Another project with modern technological solutions has been completed in border Koti of Tavush. The number of streets illuminated with LED lights has increased in the village. 54 LED lights were installed and a 2-km-long section of the road was illuminated, including the street leading to the village stadium. This excited children in particular: they won’t have to break off their games because of the darkness.

Viva-MTS and the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) have been supporting the residents of Koti for four years now in order to make the future of the young generation living in the village better. During this period, the partners promoting the introduction of new technologies in the Armenian regions, illuminated 5600 m of roads, installed 1487 LED lights in total. This program was essential for a village with a border of about 38 km. In order to increase the efficiency of this project, the community has made some contribution by providing external electric light poles and performing land works in the designated areas for them.

“Such programs are of great importance for Koti as due to them villagers don’t feel left behind which in its turn keeps them rooted in their village. We have been cooperating with Viva-MTS and FPWC for four years now as a result of which many problems have been solved. Many main as well as secondary streets have been illuminated. The advantages of LED lights are: providing brighter lighting, allowing to save community resources and being energy saving. The lights also serve as a clear message to the enemy affirming the ongoing presence of villagers in their homeland,” said Andranik Hakhverdyan, the administrative head of Koti.

In general, such programs are important for ensuring long-term results, mitigating the difference in development rates between the capital and regions, and preventing possible emigration. A new solar photovoltaic plant with an installed capacity of 17.5 kWh was also commissioned at the end of last year through the cooperation between Viva-MTS and the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) in border Koti. Without additional cost, the produced energy will ensure the operation of the drinking water pump. The new photovoltaic plant will also provide electricity for the 2 km street lighting system near the area.

As a telecommunications company, Viva-MTS supports communities by implementing technological and cost-effective infrastructure solutions, using environmental, energy-sufficient modern technologies, which allows for a 80% reduction in electricity consumption while providing brighter lighting.

In 2022, Viva-MTS invested more than 120 million AMD for the development of infrastructures in different communities of Armenia.
