Nick Spanos: Velvet blockchain voting revolution can happen in Armenia
Blockchain Technologies Corporation CEO Nick Spanos has great experience working in American presidential campaigns using blockchain voting technology.
This technology allows elections to be fully transparent and publicly auditable. It works as follows: there are voting machines that allow voters to scan their paper ballot, and each vote is entered into the blockchain tally simultaneously. The machine scans the ballet and transmits the blocks in favor of the relevant candidate. Each candidate has a unique address, or wallet, to which the machine sends a vote.
Nick Spanos, a significant figure in innovation and pioneer of this smart technology from the United States is visiting Armenia in July for the second time to offer the blockchain voting program to Armenians officials.
B24.am has made an exclusive interview with Nick Spanos.
What is the main purpose of your visit?
After the first visit, we planted some roots here with Peter Mikkelsen, the founder of Nordic Blockchain Association. Peter had the idea and we have a patented blockchain voting machine with paper ballot. We feel that this will be good for Armenia now because of the big transition in this country.
What do Armenians need to do to have this system for their elections?
It is very simple. They just need to, instead of buying machines, buy the blockchain voting program package which they can check anywhere they wish.
Why have you chosen Armenia for piloting this program package?
We are interested in this country because it is tech one. People look to Armenia as the place where Velvet Revolution happen and why not the Velvet blockchain voting revolution happen here?
How are you going to present your offer to officials?
So, we had meetings with some government representatives. They were very happy to extend their voting system. We hope to sign some agreements. For this, we have prepared a document which we are going to present to them.
